My Week + Array of Links Vol. 01
Happy Friday! Although it’s only 9am, we have made it through the week and the weekend is finally here. My week has been slow and definitely an adjustment to starting getting myself into gear for. I’m unexpectedly taking a break from school this semester due to some paperwork not being filed in time, and since it wasn’t on my part pissed off and bummed would be polite ways to share how I’ve been feeling. I haven’t really told any close individuals just yet, only my best friend and my parents.
My emotions have been high and low, it’s drained a lot out of me which is why I hadn’t post all that I had planned for this week. I’ll be finishing my edX CS50 course along with a Java and Python course while not in school. I don’t believe that learning is only done in a classroom, and with all the access technology gives us, I know how to make the most of it. I’ll also be using my “College Student” card to still get some experiences in, I’ve been planning on volunteering at the Maker Faire in NYC this upcoming October, as well as applying to a domestic and international Google Travel grant. Ever since I got my passport earlier this year, I’ve been itching to get out and travel soon.
I had dinner with my mentee this week, CEO of the Carolinas-Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council and his team, along with Josh, to have dinner at the Mint Museums’s restaurant, Halcyon. Josh and I got the chance to experience some high class dining and begin our journey to lavish life. We jumped out of our comfort zones and opened our foodie mouths to the unknown and it wasn’t that bad. I tried rabbit, duck, boar, and oysters for the first time in the appetizers palette. For my entrée, although I stuck with the Ribeye, it was served in the most extravagant of ways; I didn’t even know what else it was coming with. I tricked Josh into eating the rabbit, and he loved it! I only succeeded in doing so because I didn’t tell him what it was. The staff of CVMSDC joked that were trying Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Pumba’s cousin.
Josh had Sebastian for dinner and tried scallops as well. Our ‘Sweet Life’ training has been a success thus far. Josh celebrated his 27th birthday the following day and will be launching his long awaited blog in the next couple of days. It’s going to be epic.
I finished the HBO series, Vice Principals, this week and am all caught up. I then started and am almost finished binge-watching the HBO series, How to Make it In America’. I actually really like it, and I remember the promo going around for it a few years back because Kid Cudi was going to star in it. I also finally listened to Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book, and I love it. If he ever decides to commit to christian/gospel hip hop, then I’m completely on board. I’ve been waiting for someone to have the common sense enough to do it right. Childish Gambino’s first concert + album experience for PHAROS is tonight and I will be staring at his app in my phone all night. I hope that those of us home can catch glimpses of the magic via Snapchat or Facebook Live. I just want to album, cause I will need it to get me through these next few months. Everything happens for a reason, right? Yeah, I keep trying to tell myself that too. </binarybeauty>
