<binary> I started a new internship and I disabled my instagram this week. It wasn’t planned but it was definitely needed. I decided that I need to unplug from “the world” and focus solely on myself because I’ve got some serious reevaluating and getting my life together. A few weeks ago, I went on a short trip to my hometown for my cousin’s graduation party and as I was leaving out the door I quickly grabbed my copy of Darling magazine’s Summer 2016 issue. I typically become so engulfed in my array of Spotify playlists that I end up forgetting all together to read, but something told me to grab it because I’d need it. That feeling I had was spot on. During the ride, I started to grow tired of my music (which was weird) and had this feeling of wanting to let go. I needed some space to detox. I could feel myself detaching and not in the best way. So I kid you not, when I grabbed and opened Darling, the pages legitimately fell open to the exact article I needed to read: about Detoxing and Forgiveness.
We are in constant “Information Age” information overload #IAIO . The world of technology is so fast paced and ever-changing that while you try to stay afloat and aware of constant changes, you begin to lose your ability to naturally unplug. Whether information that you intentionally seek, wish you hadn’t seeked, or just happened to find (or haunt) you. Instagram, my favorite tool to be inspired, now makes me sick to look at. . Whether you just need a heart-felt article to fill you up, find some astounding inspiration, or analog-formatted creativity to get you into gear, here are 11 of my favorite independent magazine that are as beautiful as they are powerful…like me and you. You can subscribe to receive them or purchase a particular issue that intrigues you. They range from art of being a woman to travel to food to the human side of tech to mental health. But most importantly, treat yo self to a time of peace and sanity. Indulge and splurge as you refresh and renew. </beauty>
